Features in Teams you might not know about
Microsoft Teams has been around for nearly four years and continues to evolve with new smart features. In addition to calling and chatting, there are plenty of other features that can make your daily work routine easier. Here, one of our consultants, Sofia Carling, shares some useful features in Teams that you may not have known about before.
1. Email to a channel
If you've received an email that your team needs to discuss you can email this on to a kchannel in Teams! All you need to do is retrieve the channel’s email address from Teams. Then send the email to the Teams channel’s email address, and it will appear as a post, allowing you to easily discuss and comment on the email.
2. Name chat groups
Important gruchats can easily get lost in long chat lists. To easily find your group chat, you can rename ityour group chats and search for them in the search bar at the top.
3. Focus mode
ExperienceveDo you also find that it can sometimes be hard to see the small text on your colleague’s screen when it’s shared during a meeting? Under the three dots, there is a “Focus mode” setting that zooms in on the content.
4. Keyboard shortcuts
If you type a / in the search bar, you'll get great suggestions for keyboard shortcuts you can use in Teams. For example, type the / symbol when you want to make a call, change your status, or send a chat message directly from the search bar.
5. ImportantImportant notice
If you need to send an especially important message to someone , you can do so by tapping the small icon that looks like an exclamation mark below the message you're writing. Here you can choose whether you just want the message to be highlighted or even send a notification automatically everyevery two minutes!
6. Save a chat
Do you think one of the downsides of Teams is that important messages can easily get lost in the feed? To ensure that doesn’t happen, you can save important messages in Teams. To do this, hovering your mouse over the message you want to save, clicking the three dots, and then selecting “Save this message”.
You can find your saved messages under your icon in the upper right corner.
8. Praise
Now that many people are working from home it’s extra important to encourage and support each other. With the Praise feature in Teams, you can highlight colleagues who gone the extra mile. To do this, clicking on the icon labeled “praise” below the text field in the selected chat/channel.
I hope these tips gave you some inspiration for your Teams work!
