Instagram is investing in AI to stop bullies online

11 Jul, 2019

In order to stop the big bullying that is going online, the big social media giant, Instagram, is now investing in developing new tools where Artificial Intelligence (AI) will discover and put an end to the bullying on their platform.

Today, Instagram has millions of users worldwide and many of them are young. The bullying has therefore become a big problem on the platform in recent years. Now will the question “Are you sure that you want to post this?” appear when someone writes something mean in the comment fields on their platform.

– Tests of the function have shown us that some people do not publish mean comments, if they get a chance to think about the matter, writes Instagrams manager, Adam Mosseri, in a press release.

AI-functions will put an end to the bullying

Instagram has chosen to use Artificial Intelligence, AI, to analyze and recognize mean comments. When a person writes something mean in the comment fields on their platform, a question pops up if the person in question really wants to send the shitty comment. The new anti bullying function was introduced this monday and has already been tested on users.
